What Are OLQs?
Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) are 15 personality traits the Services Selection Board assesses across GTO tasks, psychological tests, and the personal interview. No single test assesses all 15 — they are observed holistically. At Atharva Defence Academy, our SSB training is structured around developing each OLQ through specific exercises.
The 15 OLQs — Brief Explanation
- Effective Intelligence: Ability to apply knowledge practically
- Reasoning Ability: Logical problem solving
- Organising Ability: Planning and coordinating resources
- Power of Expression: Clarity in speaking and writing
- Social Adaptability: Getting along well in groups
- Cooperation: Team-first mindset in GTO tasks
- Sense of Responsibility: Owning tasks and outcomes
- Initiative: Starting action without being told
- Self-Confidence: Belief in your own abilities
- Speed of Decision: Deciding quickly under pressure
- Ability to Influence the Group: Motivating others naturally
- Liveliness: Energy and enthusiasm
- Determination: Persisting despite obstacles
- Courage: Physical and moral bravery
- Stamina: Sustained physical and mental effort
How to Develop OLQs
OLQs cannot be faked — they must be genuine. Participate in group activities, take leadership roles in college, practise speaking in public, and build physical stamina through daily PT. Our NDA coaching programme and free SSB training at Garhi Cantt are specifically designed to build each OLQ. Join us or call 8707441994.
