Start Here: Understanding the NDA Exam Structure
The National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year. It has two papers — Mathematics (300 marks) and General Ability Test (600 marks) — totalling 900 marks. Candidates who clear the written exam are called for the SSB interview. At Atharva Defence Academy's NDA coaching in Dehradun, we cover both stages under one programme.
Step 1 — Know Your Eligibility
You must be between 16.5 and 19.5 years old and should have passed or be appearing in Class 12. Male and female candidates are both eligible. Science stream students have an advantage in Maths but Arts students do equally well with the right coaching.
Step 2 — Build Your Study Timetable
A minimum of 6 hours of focused daily study is needed. Allocate: Maths — 2 hrs, English — 1 hr, General Science/History/Geography — 2 hrs, Current Affairs — 30 min. Our NDA coaching classes at Garhi Cantt follow a structured daily schedule that eliminates guesswork.
Step 3 — The Right Books
- Maths: RS Aggarwal + NCERT Class 11 & 12
- English: Wren & Martin Grammar
- GK: Lucent's GK + monthly current affairs digest
- Previous Papers: Last 10 years NDA question papers — mandatory
