Officer Pay Scale — Level 10 to Level 18
Post the 7th Pay Commission, Armed Forces officers are on Military Service Pay (MSP) plus Pay Level:
- Lieutenant (Level 10): ₹56,100 basic + MSP ₹15,500 + allowances = ~₹80,000+ in-hand
- Captain (Level 10B): ~₹90,000+ in-hand
- Major (Level 11): ~₹1,10,000+ in-hand
- Lt Colonel (Level 12A): ~₹1,40,000+ in-hand
- Colonel (Level 13): ~₹1,70,000+ in-hand
- Brigadier (Level 13A): ~₹2,00,000+ in-hand
- Major General and above: ₹2,00,000 to ₹2,50,000+
Key Allowances & Perks
- HRA: Free government accommodation or house rent allowance up to 30% of basic
- Transport Allowance: ₹3,600–7,200 per month
- Canteen (CSD): Heavily subsidised groceries, electronics, vehicles
- Medical: Fully free for self and dependents at military hospitals (ECHS)
- Leave Travel: Annual LTC — family travel funded by government
- Pension: One Rank One Pension (OROP) — lifetime pension after 20 years of service
