What is AISSEE?
The All India Sainik School Entrance Exam (AISSEE) is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission to 100+ Sainik Schools across India. The exam is held once a year, typically in January. It offers two entry levels: Class 6 and Class 9.
AISSEE Class 6 — Exam Pattern 2025–26
The Class 6 exam has three sections:
- Mathematics: 50 questions × 4 marks = 200 marks
- Language Test (English/Regional): 25 questions × 4 marks = 100 marks
- Intelligence: 25 questions × 4 marks = 100 marks
Total: 300 marks | Duration: 2.5 hours | MCQ format | Negative marking: -1 per wrong answer
AISSEE Class 9 — Exam Pattern 2025–26
The Class 9 exam has five sections:
- Mathematics: 50 questions × 4 marks = 200 marks
- English: 25 questions × 4 marks = 100 marks
- General Science: 25 questions × 4 marks = 100 marks
- Social Studies: 25 questions × 4 marks = 100 marks
- Intelligence: 25 questions × 4 marks = 100 marks
Total: 600 marks | Duration: 3 hours | MCQ format | Negative marking: -1 per wrong answer
Cut-off Strategy — How to Score Above the Cut-off
- Mathematics is the highest-scoring section — never attempt a question you are unsure of due to negative marking.
- Intelligence section has high accuracy potential with practice — aim for 90%+ here.
- Language and Social Studies are the most predictable — cover NCERT thoroughly.
- Target 75%+ overall to safely clear most state quotas.
